Spring (March to May)

Typical temperatures are 11ยฐC to 24ยฐC, with mornings and evenings cooler than the day. Pack layers: a light jacket or cardigan, long sleeves and comfortable walking shoes. Flower seasons are popular, so book early.

Summer (June to August)

Hot and humid, with temperatures of about 27ยฐC to 31ยฐC. The rainy season runs from late June through July, and typhoons can occur from June to October.

Pack light breathable clothes, a compact umbrella or rain jacket, quick-drying shoes, sun protection and a swimsuit if you plan to visit the beach.

Autumn (September to November)

Pleasant, with temperatures from about 12ยฐC to 27ยฐC and an average around 15ยฐC. Pack layers: a light jacket and a scarf for evenings, plus a light rain jacket in early autumn.

Winter (December to February)

Cold, with temperatures between about -5ยฐC and 4ยฐC, and VisitKorea advises thick outerwear at all times. Pack a warm coat, thermal layers, gloves, a hat, a scarf and shoes with good grip for ice and snow.

Indoors is warm, so wear layers you can remove. Hot springs and ski resorts need swimwear and ski wear respectively.
