Jeju International Airport (CJU) sits on the north coast, next to Jeju City. The island is large and public transport between the two sides is slower than on the mainland, so decide before you land whether your base is Jeju City, the south coast around Jungmun and Seogwipo, or a rural area that really needs a car.

Renting a car, step by step
- Before you travel, check that your licence is accepted: foreign visitors usually need an International Driving Permit (1949 Geneva Convention) with their home licence. Confirm the rule with the rental company.
- After baggage claim, look for the rental car shuttle stops outside the terminal and board the shuttle for your companyโs depot.
- Inspect the car with the staff, photograph existing scratches and ask how to return it and refuel.
