Can I leave the airport during a long layover?

Answer status
YES, IF YOU MEET THE CONDITIONS

Quick answer

Often yes. Incheon Airport runs transit tours for layovers of up to 24 hours, and visa-free participation is open to visa-waiver nationals, holders of certain Western visas, and transfer passengers departing within 72 hours. Your K-ETA status still matters.

What you should know

  • To join an Incheon transit tour, your layover must be 24 hours or less.
  • VisitKorea lists three ways to take part without a visa: you are a citizen of a country in the Visa Waiver Program with Korea; you hold a visa or permanent residency of the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or one of 32 European countries and are travelling to or from it; or you are transferring at Incheon with a departure flight within 72 hours.
  • A K-ETA may still be required depending on your nationality.
  • Register with your passport and boarding passes for both flights, at the 1st-floor desk at least 30 minutes before the tour.
  • The Ministry of Justice does not allow two entries into Korea during a single visit, which limits transit tour participation.
