The e-Arrival card replaced the paper arrival card. It is free, online, and quick, but it has timing rules that catch some travelers out.

Who needs it

Foreign visitors who do not hold an approved K-ETA submit it before entering Korea. Holders of a valid K-ETA do not need to submit an e-Arrival card, according to the K-ETA site.

When to submit

You can submit up to three days before you enter Korea: on the day of arrival, one day before or two days before, based on Korean Standard Time.

If you do not enter Korea within 72 hours after submitting, the card is no longer valid, so do not submit it too early.

Children and helpers

A family member or another person can complete the form for a traveler under 14. Adults can submit their own or have someone complete it for them.

What you receive

You can download a PDF of the submitted form, but VisitKorea says it is not required for the entry inspection.

Common mistakes

Submitting too early and letting the 72 hours expire, or using an unofficial website instead of the official portal at e-arrivalcard.go.kr. The official card is free.
