Can I bring a power bank on my flight to Korea?
Answer status
YES, IN THE CABIN WITH LIMITS
Quick answer
Yes, in your carry-on. Incheon Airport allows power banks of 100 Wh or less (the number allowed can vary by airline), 100–160 Wh only with airline approval, and nothing above 160 Wh. On flights in Korea you cannot charge devices from them.
What you should know
- 0–100 Wh: allowed, but the number of batteries permitted may vary by airline.
- 100–160 Wh: only with airline approval, up to 2 per person. Over 160 Wh: not allowed.
- Since March 1, 2025, power banks and e-cigarettes must be brought as carry-on, with the charging port covered with tape or the bank in a safety pouch or zipper bag.
- Keep power banks with you or in the seat pocket, not in the overhead bin, and do not use them to charge devices on board.
What you need
- •The Wh rating printed on the power bank
- •Tape or a pouch to protect the terminals
- •Your airline’s own rules
Common mistakes
- •Packing a power bank in checked luggage
