๐Ÿš† AREX Airport Railroad

AREX connects Incheon Airport with central Seoul. There are two different trains: Express and All-Stop.

AREX Express

Incheon Airport โ†’ Seoul Station

  • Non-stop

  • Separate ticket required (about โ‚ฉ13,000 for an adult at the counter)
  • T-money is not accepted

Best if your destination is Seoul Station, or you want a comfortable direct ride.

AREX All-Stop

Stops include Gimpo Airport โ†’ Digital Media City โ†’ Hongik Univ. โ†’ Gongdeok โ†’ Seoul Station

  • Cheaper (about โ‚ฉ4,700โ€“โ‚ฉ5,400 to Seoul Station or Hongdae)
  • More frequent
  • No reserved seats
  • T-money accepted
  • Can get crowded

Best if your hotel is near Hongdae, Gongdeok or another AREX station.

โš ๏ธ Important: you cannot start a Climate Card trip at Incheon Airport T1 or T2. You can only get off there. Use T-money or a single-use ticket instead.

Ticketing and seating rules vary by route and operator. Some buses use first-come, first-served seating, while others need a ticket for a specific departure. Check your ticket or the boarding display before you queue.

Do not accept rides offered by people who approach you inside the terminal. Follow the signs marked TAXI outside the arrivals hall.

Standard taxi

Metered fare. Best for most travelers.

Deluxe / Jumbo taxi

Higher fare, larger vehicle. Good for groups and large luggage.

International Taxi

Foreign-language assistance and fixed zone fares for Seoul (roughly โ‚ฉ70,000โ€“โ‚ฉ95,000 for a standard car; check the quote before you get in). Official stand: 4C at Terminal 1, 3C at Terminal 2. Booking: 1644-2255.

For Seoul and Incheon regular taxis, the official airport guide lists 20% from 22:00 to 23:00, 40% from 23:00 to 02:00 and 20% from 02:00 to 04:00. Gyeonggi taxis follow different rules.

Fare varies by destination, traffic, taxi type and time of day. Keep a card or some KRW ready and ask for a receipt.

Do not assume that your flight arrival time is the time you can board transport. Immigration and baggage claim can take one to two hours.

The Express does not stop at Hongik University Station. Use the All-Stop train.

โŒ Boarding at Incheon Airport with a Climate Card

You cannot start a Climate Card trip at T1 or T2.

Buses use designated stops. Check the nearest stop before you board.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use T-money on AREX?

Yes on the All-Stop train. The Express requires a separate ticket.

Can I use a Climate Card from Incheon Airport?

No. You cannot board AREX at Incheon Airport T1 or T2 with a Climate Card, although you can get off there.

Which train goes to Hongdae?

Use the AREX All-Stop train. The Express does not stop at Hongik University.

Is the airport bus better with luggage?

Often yes, especially if it stops close to your hotel.

Can I pay for a taxi by credit card?

Official taxis generally accept cards, but it is sensible to keep a backup payment method.

Should I book a taxi inside the terminal?

Do not accept unsolicited rides. Use official taxi counters, services or designated taxi stands.

What if I arrive after midnight?

Check the last AREX train and any late-night bus first; otherwise use an official taxi.
